Performance A4LD, using a 4 liter transmission with a 2.3, 2.8, 2.9 or 3 liter bell housing. This transmission comes with everything in the K15 Combo `Kit plus a double clutch 4 liter torque converter and 2 Red Eagle or Black bands. The 4 liter transmissions came from the factory with stronger planet gears and more clutches. Cost $2165.00

#A4LDPV. A4LD oversize pressure boost valve (1985-1994). When rebuilding high performance or heavy duty A4LD transmissions, it is common to find the boost sleeve in the valve body worn. This wear causes low line pressure, soft upshifts, delayed reverse and poor modulator control, resulting in poor performance or premature failure for your high performance or heavy duty rebuild. These complaints can often be caused by a worn boost sleeve, which allows reverse and/or TV pressure to cross leak or exhaust. Cost $35.00

#5R55EPV. Some typical problems in 4R44E, 4R55E, 5R44E and 5R55E units are soft shifts, delayed reverse, poor modulator control and / or low line pressure in reverse. A worn boost valve is often the cause, allowing reverse and / or TV pressure to cross leak or exhaust. Sonnax now offers a replacement boost valve kit for these units to increase the ratio for slightly higher line pressures. Cost $43.00

Sonnax Part Summary

The OE springs in many Ford transmissions wear or become fatigued causing low baseline pressure. OEM replacements are hard to find, and many aftermarket springs have unacceptably high spring rates. The Sonnax “elevated pressure” main pressure regulator springs are intended to provide a minimal baseline pressure increase (approximately 10 PSI over OE baseline pressure), enough of an increase to help restore full line pressure. The springs may be used to replace worn OE springs and also to correct low line pressure caused by worn transmissions. This price is for 1 spring. Cost $2.00

This performance 5R55S torque converter is built using a Billet Lock-Up Clutch Piston to eliminate the piston rattling problem with the stock type piston. This feature alone is worth $100.00. Performance V6 5R55S Stall Converter

#5R. Fits 2005 up 4 Liter V6 Mustangs with the 5R55S transmission. This converter will stall at 3000 RPM and has all bearing construction, furnace brazed fins plus a carbon fiber clutch lining. No trade-in on this one. In the past you had to send your torque converter in to be redone, no more. Be one of the first to own this hot V6 stall converter. You'll feel a big difference on the first take off. This torque converter comes with a new OEM pre-drilled flexplate as a two piece set. This torque converter will lower your 60 foot time .2 seconds and the 1/4 mile time by .5 seconds. The competitions 3000 stall speed converter was tested in the 1/4 mile then removed, and a PATC 3000 stall speed converter was installed and tested, resulting in a .2 second lower time in the 1/4 mile. This was due to the PATC converter being a smaller diameter than stock. No down time, keep your old stock converter. No core charge. Can be special ordered in stall speeds of 2000 to 3500. #S3. Oversize Torque Converter Clutch Modulator Sleeve and Plunger Assembly. Some common complaints associated with a 5R55S / 5R55W are high TCC slip RPMs under increasing loads, slip codes, and converter apply or release concerns. These complaints are often caused by wear at the ID of the TCC modulator plunger valve sleeve, due to constant oscillation by the pulse width modulated TCC solenoid. This plunger valve positions the TCC modulator valve, which feeds line to the apply circuit, which controls slip rate. Wear of the sleeve will allow the TCC slip rate to continue to rise, and could prevent full lockup. The Sonnax assemblies restore hydraulic integrity to the TCC solenoid circuit with precisely toleranced parts. The elevated modulated pressure will not raise apply pressure to the point of TCC piston fatigue, and will result in firmer TCC apply and reduced slip RPM in heavier use applications. Cost $37.00

#S4. 5R55N Only, 4-3 Pre-Stroke Valve Spring. Complaints of no 4th or 5th gear, codes 734 and / or 735 and solenoid C codes can occur on the 5R55N due to a broken 4-3 pre-stroke valve spring. The 4-3 pre-stroke valve controls the apply and release rate of the intermediate servo and direct clutch, which should be applied in 4th and 5th gear. The Sonnax 4-3 Pre-Stroke Valve Spring addresses these complaints. This spring is not used on 5R55W and 5R55S units. Cost $6.00

#56000. A4LD 6 bolt crankshaft spacer for the 2.8, 2.9 and 4 liter. This is the torque converter pilot bushing that goes bewteen the crankshaft and flywheel. The stock part is prone to cracking. The Sonnax part is made of better steel and has a 1/16 of an inch deeper pilot area to support the converter better. Cost $15.00

#56000-2. A4LD 5R55E 8 bolt crankshaft spacer. The crankshaft spacer in A4LD, 4R44E and 5R55E applications is prone to cracking and wear because the powdered metal material of the OE spacer cannot provide adequate support for the torque converter pilot. Once the spacer wears or breaks, the result is converter misalignment. Cost $15.00

#56A4LD. We now have an adapter to install a 2.8L type 700R4 transmission on a Ford Ranger, Aerostar or Explorer with a 4L engine. The small bell housing 2.8L 700R4 transmission can be built to V8 specs. This kit will fit 2WD and 4WD with the weaker A4LD transmission. The bellhousing kit comes with a new bellhousing adapter plate, torque converter adapter ring, crank bushing, necessary hardware and instructions. #A4LDPS. A4LD Lock-Up Torque Converter Pressure Switch. This is an automatic engagement solution for an early type A4LD 2 wire lock-up. The pressure switch is installed in the governor portion of the transmission body. When the fluid pressure reaches the switch tolerance the switch closes completing the circuit and energizing the solenoid. We have the oil pressure switches (44, 48, 50 and 52 MPH) in stock.
